ROOM B

Room B – Suite Room – (Murgecchia)

The room, approximately 30m2, has two interconnected rooms, each with autonomous external access.

The first room features a very high barrel vault made of exposed tuff ashlar masonry, rock walls, and unique irregular tuff blocks masterfully recovered during restoration work. Flue marks were carved into the rock section, a reminder of the residential use that the stones of Matera have witnessed over the centuries.

It is furnished with a double bed with double beds that, upon request, can be separated in addition to being able to add an armchair bed.

It is in direct communication with the second room of the Suite, smaller but equally characterized by a particular barrel vault: the raised sixth and the reading of the tuff ashlars left exposed, makes us understand the great capacity of the master masons’ work. E’ furnished with a single bed

The bathroom is complete with bathroom fixtures, with a glass-topped sink; the shower is designed by the architect who oversaw the restoration of the entire structure, masterfully using the combination of historical design elements, including for the lighting fixtures such as the pipe lamp inside ancient rooms

Both rooms introduce a breathtaking view of Murgia Park called Murgecchia. E’ this is an area of the Murgia park rich in the presence of rock churches such as the church of the Madonna dei Derelitti or della Scordata and San Giovanni

The furnishings and components are designed in harmony with the rural culture of reuse and with the characterizing approach of self-made design: the feet of the beds are ancient iron bases, the sheet metal funnel becomes the diffuser for the lamp, old volumes of encyclopedic knowledge a step to overcome the height of the bed, The wooden board used by Matera women to bring bread to the oven is a component of the hanger.
